Hi Dan,

Coach actually is made in China, but you are right that the quality is where you can spot a fake. If you bought from a reputable store, it should be authentic. Most of the knockoffs actually come from places like Taiwan, but they might still say they are from China. I hope that answers your question and gives you some peace of mind that you bought the authentic brand.

I just bought a signature Coach handbag for my daughter. Granted its very nice but I'm surprised that it states on a leather stamped patch in the bag that is was made in China. Do they make Coach handbags in China. I know this is where most of the knock offs come from. Thanks, Dan W

Hi Amy,

If you purchased from an authorized retailer (including Coach outlet stores), then it is authentic. Coach does have off-season and different styles at their outlets than what you will see in the regular big box stores. You can go to the Coach store locator at their website to make sure.

Hi Lilian,

Ask her if she has the receipt from where she purchased it. If it was purchased from an authorized seller and she has a receipt, then there is a good chance it is authentic.

There are a few authentication services, such as MyPoupette, but unless you know first-hand where the item was purchased, it is hard to say for certain. Unfortunately, serial numbers can be faked too.

I recently bid for a coach bag on ebay which the seller claim she got it from usa. Based on the description and serial no. given below, how can I tell if it is authentic? Pls advice

Hi Rachel,

I've never seen that before either, so I would probably be a little leary. Coach has not authorized any purse parties to my knowledge. They do have some authorized outlet stores, but the prices are not noticeably less than what you'd pay retail, at least for the ones around here. You also need to look at the pricing. If the purses were not in the typical Coach purse price range, then they are likely knock-offs. If they are replicas, then they should not be sold as the authentic thing. Hope this helps.

I recently went to a "purse party" and saw some very authentic looking Coach purses (creed and serial number stamped on inside and everything). However, in the curve of some of the "C's" on the signature "C" pattern on the outside of the purse, the word "Coach" was stitched in cursive. I have never seen this before on any other Coach purses. Do any of the authentic Coach handbags have this stitching?
