macy's is allowed to offer coach discounts right now many of them have 30% off of coach bags at least i know most of them in maryland do. i work there and if you catch a big one day sale usually you'll get lucky and the 30% coach clearance will be even more off.

I bought four coach bags at the outlet near Seattle, Washington this past Saturday. They had a great sale. Lots of bags were 30, 40 or 50% off, plus that day you got an extra 20% off your total bill. I also was at Macy's in Seattle and they had 30% off all Coach bags. Fun shopping!

I was just at Macy's and they had Coach bags on sale. Some at 50% and some at 30% so they actually some department stores must be authorized to offer discounts unless they are doing it illegally.

The Coach outlets are. Now, you can't just purchase a purse from any old flea market. These will be stores in a shopping mall style outlet center. They will say Coach on the outside and typically all they sell are Coach products. We have one near us. If you post where you live (just general area please, for safety reasons), I'll try to see if you have one near you.

I don't know of any books, although the purses do appear in many different stories and references. You may want to check their website for ideas on different designs that are available. I love Coach products too. I'm a little addicted, but there are worse habits :)

It is about time that some intelligent person clears up that outlets indeed sell AUTENTHIC COACH and not knockoffs or SECOND hand/defective COACH bags like some think to believe. It is true that the outlets do sell older models but sometimes you might luck out and get some bags that might still be on the Coach website. I have done it. I keep all of my receipts but that still is not enough for some people. Thanks for a well written article.

I decided to go to a Coach outlet store for a cheaper christmas present, I didn't think it would be much cheaper but thought it would be worth it to save a couple of bucks. Well I was floored by the prices! I was able to buy three good sized purses and two scarfs for less then the standard price of one purse! There weren't any defects at all. Plus customer service was really great as well, no stuck up people, everyone was cheerful. I will go to the outlet store from now on!

There is a Russell Springs Factory Outlet in Russell Springs, Kentucky. There are other outlet stores throughout Kentucky as well, but not all have a Coach outlet store. You can get a list of authorized outlet stores on the Coach website.

I have to say that this writeup is somewhat wrong. Boutique styles are often transfered to the outlets after they are out of season. Usually just months after their initial release. Coach makes both "regular" merchandise, and "factory" merchandise. You can tell the difference by looking at the Creed (the leather patch inside the bag) - at the bottom there is a number that will have a few digits then a hyphen, and then the remaining numbers after they hyphen are the style number. If the style number has and "F" at the begining then it's a bag made just for the Factory outlets to sell. If it's all numbers, then it's a transfer of a regular wonderful Coach boutique bag. The latter is what I look for!

I was reading through the comments and someone asked about Sales @ the Coach Outlet.

A couple day's ago I was @ the outlet in Gilroy CA and most of the bags were @ 40-50% off the outlet price. I got myself a Black Leather Soho for $125.

I don't think I've seen the khaki/chocolate in the outlets here in Indiana, but it sounds like a purse that will match just about anything too, which is an added bonus. Congrats on a great deal.

Hey, I bought the greatest bag ever at the outlet in Kittery Me.Its the Med.Ergo Signature Hobo in khaki/choc. with the patent leather strap. The price was unbelievable,$135.00 plus tax!I do not have to look any further for the perfect bag because, I bought it and its great for everyday!!!

There are a lot of fakes out there and buyers should be very cautious. There are no solid statistics on the numbers that are fake and there are many used handbags available online, so buyers should always be cautious whenever purchasing online.

Gucci bags are as replicated/faked as Coach, LV, Prada and Chanel. My guess is that more than 90% of top designer bags sold online listed as authentic new with tags are fakes and the other 10% are irregulars from outlets.

Because Coach is a fairly reasonable bag in the designer world, it is highly popular with those who love designer handbags but live on a budget. Because of this popularity and accessibility, the bags are often copied. Basically, the demand for Coach drives the market. You can almost always catch a fake Coach in the stitching however. The copies are almost always inferior. For example, I have a Coach handbag that I have used and abused and looks as good as the day that I received it. I also had a wallet that was given to me as a gift that I could immediately tell was a fake. It tore up within just a month or two and was made with crooked stitching, frayed threads and slots that let my cards slip down to the bottom of the wallet. Definitely not a Coach product.

thanks for the tips but why is here a proliferation of fake coach gags on the market? You don't see that with gucci bags...I love coach bags but I just can't stand seeing it on the stands on evey street corner.

Just a little info. Know your prices. I walked into a Coach outlet today and saw a bag offered at 40% off the outlet price, the same bag was available 3 weeks ago for 40% off of the sale price. Sale tags were removed and the bag was now $60m more. The same was true of a rain coat. They are playing games with prices and it's not nice.

Bonafide Luxury is a Chinese manufacturer of not only replicas, but really bad ones. Since Coach manufacturs in China since 2002, its easy for the factory workers to create exact replicas otherwise known as good fakes. Bonafide luxury is selling bad fakes - the CC patterns don't even match up on the thumbnail pictures. Sorry to disappoint but would rather no one wasted their money.

We have two here in Texas..one in Round Rock the other in San Marcos...I just bought a beatiful all black leather purse at outlet...249.00 marked down to 189.00 and 50% off of that for a COACH purse I thought it was a GREAT deal. I have paid 300.00 or more in the store for one

Many of the outlet malls have websites and mailing lists, but I'm not certain if they would list when Coach sales might be. Your best bet is to ask the employees the next time you are in a Coach Outlet store. Most outlet stores tend to run seasonal sales around the same time every year. Once the employees tell you when the sales might be, you can mark it on your calendar, so you don't forget.

Hi Orlando COACH Fans! I just shopped this past weekend (Sun. April 13th) at the Prime Outlet in Orlando (next to the now closed Dixie Stampede). They are having this unbelievable 50% off sale. Yes, a 50% off sale! Then, some purses are an extra 20-30% off of the already marked down price! I am not a purse wearing kind of gal, but have really been wanting a Coach... I ended up buying 2 and a couple of small wallets. I actually want to go back! Eek!

Hi everyone- I bought my daughter a beautiful coach purse for her 13th birthday. I beleive I payed about $250 at a coach retail store. A few months later I stopped in at an outlet while on vacation and saw the SAME bag for $113.oo

I live in Indiana, so this might not apply to all areas of the country. However, I have been to Coach Outlets in Indiana, Florida and Tennessee. I found the prices to not be that great, although they did have a very plentiful selection. You will save 30-40 percent in some cases, but I was really hoping for a clearance deal or a true bargain, being the cheapskate that I am. I didn't find it, but whenever I pay the extra money for a Coach product, I always feel it is worth it. Hope that helps.

I believe you are correct, if I'm understanding what you are describing. I own one of these checkbook wallets and found mine at an authorized outlet store in Edinburg, Indiana. There are other outlets located around the United States. You can get more information from the Coach website as well.

As a last resort, you can also check on Ebay, but be very careful when purchasing from online auction sites as many of the items are not authentic.

I have been looking everywhere for a British Tan Bleecker checkbook wallet but can't find one. I know they exist but I am only able to find it in buckskin or black. Any suggestions?

I don't know of any outlet stores that will sell purses online. The Coach website does offer purses, as well as authorized dealers like Nordstrom's and Dillard's. I would be really cautious of purchasing from other sources.

Perhaps you have a friend or family member in one of the towns where an outlet is located? You might be able to talk her into buying the purse you want and shipping to you.

Unfortunately, the copies are getting better and better these days. However, one area that usually clearly points to a fake, is the stitching. An authentic Coach person will have very small, even stitching on both the inside and outside of the purse. You may also want to read through our article on spotting a fake patchwork purse. Many of the items apply to all Coach purses.

That's a good question. I would tread very, very cautiously. Many of the online discount sources for Coach offer fakes. I would start by checking to see if they are an authorized Coach dealer. You can use the store locator to find an authorized seller close to you.

What you might want to do is find the closest Coach Outlet store, phone them and ask if they offer any type of online sales or will do a mail order for you over the telephone.

How far are you from Wisconsin Dells? There was a new Coach outlet opened there this past summer at the Tanger Outlet. There is also a store locater on the Coach website where you can search by zip code, but these are not going to be the outlet stores. A couple of other outlet malls to try include Prime Outlets which is halfway between Milwaukee and Chicago and the Coach Outlet in Pleasant Prairie, WI.

Hi, Robyn. This is a really good question. The last thing anyone wants is to save up hundreds of dollars for that authentic Coach handbag only to be duped into buying a fake.

There are a few things that show a purse is an authentic Coach. First, you can get a list of authorized dealers on the Coach website.

There are a few other things to look for:

The quality of the leather. A real Coach bag will have a fine, buttery feeling leather and knock-offs will not.
There should be a Coach stamp somewhere on the handbag. I might be on the leather that attaches the strap to the bag or it might be lower on the bag. When you find the stamp, observe it carefully. It should have the word "Coach" and underneath the word "Leatherware" and under that "1941". The stamp should not be sewn on but stamped.
If the bag doesn't have a serial number it is a fake, but copy cats are getting better at copying emblems and authentic looking numbers, so it can be difficult to tell if the bag is a fake or a copy from this feature.
The stitching on a Coach purse is very small and even. A fake often has large, uneven stitches
If it has a silk CC fabric on the inside, it is probably real. It's difficult to replicate quality signature silk.
The zipper should not say RTK. Coach zippers are sometimes stamped with YKK but nothing else.

hi. i am an avid coach fan and while i generally go for my personal favorite style (regardless of the latest fashion they have but also regardless of price) i love shopping wherever i can find a cute bag-my favorites are the patchworks as well as some of the new styles-therefore i can only get certain styles online. while many sites or auctions make it scary and risky in terms of authenticity, if you educate yourself well you CAN actually make a confident purchase whether you're looking for a bargain or a style no longer sold in stores that you prefer to the newer styles (or both) so readd read read to get exactly what you want and can only find online!
