Roxy Mini Tote

The very definition of playful, the Roxy mini tote is a cute little bag made just for summer's outdoor excursions.

Surfers are no doubt immediately familiar with Roxy, the brand founded in 1990 by surfing culture pioneer Quiksilver. Especially for women, Roxy started as a swimwear line. Its near instant success paved the way for an accompanying sportswear line. Over the years, the brand expanded to include denim collections and even snow- and ski-related apparel and accessories. Roxy touts its brand as the first of its kind.

Another group extremely familiar with Roxy is teenagers. With its charming heart-shaped logo, Roxy's target market naturally progressed to a younger group of females who adore playful, fun attire. When accessories, eyewear, footwear and watches were added to the growing collection in 1995, it seemed almost a no-brainer that the birth of Roxy Girl followed. Designed especially for girls between the ages of seven and sixteen, Roxy Girl is now recognized as a forerunner in fashion for young girls.

In addition to practical apparel, Roxy produces a collection of accessories that includes everything from hats and scarves to luggage and belts. There are even iPod speakers and bedding for diehard Roxy aficionados. Of course, no collection of accessories would be complete without bags.

The Roxy bag collection includes totes, satchels, basic handbags and backpacks in various seasonal prints. Designed for teenagers in particular, these bags are sporty, cute and generally very easy on the wallet.

Bear in mind that the Roxy mini tote is not always available. Since it's best suited for the spring and summer months, it's unlikely to be found during fall or winter. As noted, the mini tote is designed with summer in mind. Mini totes are practical and sturdy, particularly those constructed of 100 percent cotton canvas. Other styles are made with vinyl, which is especially convenient if you're planning to carry the bag to the pool, beach or lake. Traces of dirt are easily removed by simply wiping it down. They're available in a number of prints, ranging from girly and colorful to deep and dramatic. Chances are you'll easily find one that suits your personality well!

Many styles of the mini tote are trimmed with vinyl and may boast faux leather accents or shoulder straps. The interiors are fully lined, but do note that they aren't cushioned or padded in any way. For that reason, especially heavy items shouldn't be stored in the tote.

The majority of Roxy mini totes have some type of closure – you'll find zippers, buttons and even Velcro on some of the vinyl versions. Since so many totes are sold with open tops, it can be quite a find to discover one that's as functional as this! A zippered version is great for carrying to the beach or to any location where you may inadvertently have your bag placed in a public spot for extended periods of time.

By virtue of its name, the mini tote is indeed mini! The dimensions for most of the mini totes measure eleven inches long, four inches wide and seven inches high. Obviously, it's not the roomiest bag in the world and certainly won't do the trick if you're a woman who normally carries a great amount. But consider it a practical choice on days when being lumbered by a heavy leather bag just doesn't seem feasible. It's great to pair with light sundresses and sandals on balmy days, holds just what you need for a stroll along the boardwalk, makes a smart choice when you're headed to the lake and just need a few things and even works if you're just strolling through the mall on a hot day.
