Lucky Brand Handbags

From LoveToKnow Handbags

If you are in love with the louche, boho look of stars like Kate Hudson, Sienna Miller, and Sandra Bullock, then a Lucky Brand handbag should be one of your go-to accessories.

Hobo

The company's spring 2009 lineup features a variety of colors, shapes and sizes, all with their signature California bohemian style. From the aptly named Fringe Bag, a soft suede number that features a thick band of fringe, to the rock and roll look of the Studded Leather Tote, accented with funky studs and stitched crosses at the handles, each bag is crafted from supple leather and finished with distinctive details.

Lucky Brand History

Lifelong friends Gene Montesano and Barry Perlman teamed up in 1972 to open a jeans shop in Florida called Four Way Street. In the evenings they would head to the local laundromat with blue jeans and bleach. A few hours later, they would have a stack of 100 percent one-of-a-kind pieces to sell.

After Montesano moved to LA to work in the fashion industry, he started Bongo Jeans, which he helped run for 15 years. Then in 1990, he left Bongo to launch Lucky Brand and asked Barry to become his business partner. Their goal was to create a denim company that not only made high quality jeans, but also retained a specific sense of humor.

They put a message in the fly “Lucky You” and the rest, they say, is fashion history.

Since then, the company has branched into a full fashion design business with everything from sweaters, jackets, sunglasses, maternity, dresses, kids' clothes, watches, to their line of Lucky Brand handbags.

Choosing the Perfect Lucky Brand Handbag

One of the 18 styles featured on the company’s website will fit beautifully into your wardrobe. The prices are affordable, ranging from $99.00 for the black-and-white Embroidered Canvas Tote to $268.00 for the Peace Link Tote Bag.. Many of the styles come with a choice of colors, like the Abbey Road Foldover Bag, which comes in black, brown, and a lovely green.

Stylish yet Conservative

  • The Medium Slouchy Hobo goes with almost everything because of its streamlined, roomy design and soft, rich leather.
  • An excellent size for everyday wear, the Leather Hobo Twist comes in black or white, and features a twisted shoulder strap.
  • Smaller in size but big on style, the Trinity Leather Satchel is perfect for those who don’t need a colossal amount of handbag space.

Funky and Fabulous

  • The name of the Night Prowler Bag says it all. A black leather version with a rock star chain link strap and bold whip-stitching, this is definitely a bag for those with attitude.
  • Colorful, textured and the ultimate in boho luxe, the Medium Slouchy Patchwork Bag adds some serious hippie chic to any outfit.

  • If you want to add a pop of color to your wardrobe, check out the Leather Daisy Chain Bag in blue parrot. Colorful florals trim the interior, and a daisy accented drawstring and wide straps provide playful finishing touches.

Giving Back

Shopping is a feel-good sport, and it feels even better when you know that your money and support of a company goes towards a good cause. The Lucky Foundation, launched in 1996, has successfully raised approximately $6 million through its annual Black Tie and Blue Jeans Gala. The funds raised go to charities that bring happiness, comfort and hope to disabled children. Some of the charities include Smile Train, Camp Sundown, Island Dolphin Care, Shane’s Inspiration, and The Bridge School.

Where to Find

In addition to their online store, Lucky Brand handbags can be found at department stores - Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, Nordstrom and Dillard’s - and at one of their 170 company-owned stores in the United States and Puerto Rico.
