Fendi Handbags

History of Fendi Handbags

Fendi handbags were not even a twinkle in the eyes of Adele Casagande when she opened a leather and fur shop in Italy almost 100 years ago. Casagrande married a man with the last name, "Fendi," and the two decided to re-name the business.

Over the course of several decades the brand became more and more popular, and eventually made its mark on the fashion industry all over the world. Today, Fendi has one of the most recognizable logos on earth, and the company produces much more than fur coats. Today, Fendi produces clothing, shoes, handbags, belts, sunglasses, and many other accessory items.

High Cost of Fendi Handbags

Fendi purses are great looking and are desired by women all over the world. However, there are two issues facing potential Fendi purse owners:

  • They are available in limited quantities and there are often waiting lists for particular purse styles that can last up to three years.
  • They are very expensive and can cost several hundreds or even thousands of dollars each.

Despite the cost, however, anyone wearing authentic Fendi clothing or carrying an original Fendi purse will look sophisticated and refined.

Fendi at a Discount

Believe it or not, there are ways to purchase an original and authentic Fendi purse at a discount. While there are people who are happy to settle for a counterfeit Fendi purse just so they can give the illusion that they own a real Fendi, there are others who feel that they must own the real thing.

Buying a discounted Fendi is somewhat difficult because it’s very easy to be fooled into buying something that really is a fake. An unusually low price on a Fendi bag should be a warning sign that the purse may not be real. However, this does not mean that authentic Fendi purses cannot be found on sale.

The key to finding Fendi handbags on sale is to:

  • Go to a store that sells them, and ask the sales clerk to tell you the date when the newest lines of purses will be arriving. New styles usually arrive at the turn of each season.
  • Then, on or around that date, return to the store and see if the previous season’s Fendis are on sale.

Normally, stores will put last season’s purses on sale so that they can make room for the new ones. This is the perfect time to find a great purse at up to 50 percent off the original cost.

Rent a Fendi

For anyone who has a special event to attend, or feels as if carrying an authentic Fendi purse is a necessity, there are some creative ways around spending hundreds or thousands of dollars purchasing one.

One of the newest and most cost-effective ways of being able to use a Fendi purse without buying one is to rent one. Stores such as Bag Borrow or Steal will rent designer purses to customers for a monthly fee.

Usually, the process of renting a designer purse works like this:

1) The renter signs up for a membership

2) A purse is selected from the inventory (usually listed online)

3) The purse is shipped

4) The renter can utilize the purse for as long as she wants

5) The purse is shipped back to the company

6) A new purse can be selected

Renting Fendi purses is not cheap, but it can solve the problem of not wanting to spend a huge chunk of money on one specific purse. The beauty of Fendi rental is that the purses are authentic and look fabulous, and they can be rotated as often as desired.

Hi Sharon,

Wow! This sounds like an amazing find. Your best bet for having the purse authenticated is to take it to a local antique dealer, especially if there is one who specializes in vintage clothing and accessories. Not only will he or she be able to tell you if the purse is actually a Fendi, but will likely be able to give you an approximate value of what the purse is worth.

I was cleaning out a closet going through some of my deceased grandmother's things and found an "old" Fendi clutch purse with a brass FF logo with a YKK zipper. Inside it is dark brown very soft leather, written in gold is Fendi S.A.S. Roma Made in Italy. On the outside the signature FF logo is trimmed in brown leather, with a small square FF logo stitched. How can I find out if this is an authentic purse possibly from the 1960's. Did all of the earlier Fendi's have a metal plate inside for authenticity?
