Burberry Handbags
From LoveToKnow Handbags
History of Burberry Handbags
The history of Burberry handbags stems back to the mid-1800s. At the age of 21, a young man by the name of Thomas Burberry opened a store in Britain that sold outdoor clothing. The store did well, but the successful future of the company was locked when Burberry invented a type of fabric that was completely water-resistant.
Over time, the company went from being extremely popular and desired to a less-popular brand as the styles being produced began to be viewed as old-fashioned. However, just before the turn of the 21st Century, Burberry launched a new line of handbags, which took the world by storm. The success of Burberry handbags is partially responsible for the revitalization of the Burberry brand.
The Burberry "Check"
Burberry is well known for the "check" pattern it uses on many of its product lines, including clothing, umbrellas, handbags, and other accessories. The pattern was originally created about 80 years ago when it was used as a lining for Burberry raincoats. The pattern was somewhat recognizable then, but when the company decided to utilize the pattern on outer layers of clothing and accessories in the 1960s, the check pattern became Burberry's trademark.
Today, the check pattern is commonly seen on most of Burberry's products, including its handbags.
High End = High Demand
Burberry is considered a high-end brand. Authentic handbags manufactured by this designer usually cost between several hundred dollars and a thousand dollars. However, the expensive price for a Burberry purse is equaled by the quality and fashionable characteristics it carries.
Where to Buy
Burberry handbags, as well as most other products made by the company, can be found for sale in most of the world’s renowned stores including Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue.
They can also be found for sale on several on-line stores such as Lux Bags, Elegance Handbags, and In the Bag. These internet-only stores sell authentic Burberry bags, although most do state that the bags are only available in limited quantities.
Burberry at a Discount
It is possible to find authentic Burberry purses at lower-than-retail prices. Stores such as My Designer Brands are able to offer high-end products at a discount because:
- Internet-only stores have lower overhead than physical stores, and are therefore able to lower the retail cost of items they sell because it simply costs less to store their products in a warehouse.
- Stores that sell expensive items at a discount are able to purchase overstocked or overproduced items from companies at a discount. If a manufacturer overproduces an item, the liquidator can purchase the items at a discount, which in-turn means lower prices for the consumer.
- If a departments store cancels a large order they place with a high-end manufacturer, such as Burberry, a store such as My Designer Brands can buy those items at a discount, and then sell them at a discount.
Of course, Burberry handbags may also go on sale in physical department stores at the end of a season or if the department store has overstocked the items and needs to sell them quickly.
Counterfeit Burberry Purses
Just like most high-end designer brand handbags, it’s possible to buy fake Burberry purses. They can be found for sale in places like New York City’s Chinatown, and they can also be found on various Internet-only stores. Purchasing a fake Burberry purse is easy, but it’s important to keep in mind that counterfeit handbags often look slightly different from authentic ones, and they are also lower-quality.
